and its types.In this post I try to save your time and talk to the point
because I know your time is very important in today busy life. So let’s start

What is the exactly
meaning of logo?
Logo
is a symbol or other small design adopted by an organization to identify its
products, uniform, vehicles, etc.
How many types of
logo are there exits?
There are many logo types but I will describe you 7 basic and famous logo types which you must know for becoming a successful logo designer in today competition world.
Basic 7 logo types
1. Mascots logo
2. Pictorial marks
3. Wordmark logo
4. Abstract logo
5. Emblem logo
6. Monogram logo
7. Combination logo
Now we briefly know the exactly purpose of these logotypes.
1.Mascots logo
It’s basically not a logo it’s a character which represent your brand which target child and families.
Or
A mascot is
essentially a well designed cartoon character with strong connection to the
company it represents.
When to use Mascot logo?
You
can use/create mascot if:

you
have a brand that want to target young children and families.
·
your
brand is friendly and somehow funny.
· you
want to change some serious work into fun like in ms office paperclip was a
character when
·
you
click on help option then paperclip used to appear.
2.Pictorial marks or logo symbols
Pictorial is
defined as something illustrated or expressed in pictures. It is also called
brand mark. Pictorial mark is not just a picture it’s a specific thing
like Apple logo is a pictorial logo because it’s company name is Apple and its
logo itself an Apple symbol. Similarly Twitter logo is also a pictorial mark
logo because its company name is Twitter.
When to use Pictorial logo?
When you have become very
famous with your name think about apple, it had used name with their logo at
the start but when people know it, it start to remove name with their logo.
3. Wordmark logo or wordmark logotype
It’s a font-based logo that
focuses on a business’ name alone. Think Visa and Coca-Cola.
When to use Wordmark logo?
When
you have new company and company’ name is short and when you want that your company
name will be famous. A wordmark logo is a good idea if you have
a distinct business name that will stick in customers’ minds. Having your name
in a great, designed font will make your brand all the stickier.
4. Abstract logo marks
Abstract logo is a specific
pictorial logo in abstract mark .Instead of having a recognizable image like
twitter company has twitter image or logo similarly apple brand has apple logo,
you have an abstract geometric form that represents your business.

mark is a specific type of pictorial logo. Instead of being a
recognizable image like an apple or a bird—it's an abstract geometric
form that represents your business.
When to use Abstract logo?
When you doesn’t want to use
literal image like twitter and apple logos are literal images and Pepsi ,Nike
are examples of abstract logos.
5. Emblem logo
An emblem logo consists of font inside a symbol or an icon like badges, seals and crests.
Or
Some logos use words like a
brand name or initials. Others use images. Emblem logos use both to create an
instantly classic feel.
When to use Emblem logo?
You can use/create emblem if:
you have yearly old or
traditional brand i.e. Apple, Starbucks etc.
6. Monogram logo
or lettermark
A monogram
logo contains one to four letters, most commonly a initials or first
letter of the company’s full name. A lettermark is a typography-based logo
that’s comprised of a few letters, usually a company’s initials.
When to use Monogram logo?
You
can use/create emblem if:
you
have long brand name like National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) etc.
7. The Combination mark
This
type of logo is combination all of above logo types that’s why it is called
combination mark. i.e Dove logo is the combination of both pictorial logo and
wordmark logo.
